Jatiluhur, July 10, 2026 – The Center of IT Universitas Islam Internasional Indonesia (UIII) has successfully completed the implementation of the latest Next Generation Firewall (NGFW) as the main network security solution at the UIII Data Center located in Jatiluhur.
A firewall is a network security system that acts as the first line of defense in protecting IT infrastructures from various cyber threats, such as unauthorized access, malware, ransomware, and data breaches. It controls all incoming and outgoing network traffic to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of university systems and services.
As part of this initiative, the Center of IT has replaced the previous firewall which formerly served as the university’s perimeter security. The migration to the latest firewall was carried out through careful planning to ensure a smooth transition with minimal impact on digital services.
The successful implementation of this enterprise-scale network is a result of meticulous technical planning. The transition was specifically designed to ensure all university digital services remained fully operational, without disrupting academic or administrative activities.
The migration sequence was executed with a highly precise timeline on the same day:
5:00 PM WIB – Preparation: The IT team conducted physical device installation, connectivity checks, configuration backups, and comprehensive system readiness verification.
7:00 PM WIB – Cut-Over & Migration: The data traffic cut-over process and the migration of the security system to the new NGFW device commenced.
9:20 PM WIB – Completion: The entire process was declared complete after the team performed final configurations, network connectivity validation, and a series of security tests.
Beyond enhancing security reliability, the migration to this new NGFW system marks a remarkable achievement in budget efficiency (Total Cost of Ownership / TCO).
Under the previous security infrastructure, operational costs for licensing and technical support consumed a substantial annual budget (excluding potential cost escalations due to foreign exchange rate fluctuations). However, through strategic procurement and the transition to this latest NGFW solution, UIII has successfully eliminated these recurring costs entirely for Years 1 through 3, as comprehensive licensing and technical support were fully integrated into the initial deployment.
Furthermore, following the initial 3-year period, the annual license renewal cost is projected to drop drastically to a mere fraction of the previous expense. Through this continuous optimization, the Center of IT UIII has successfully achieved massive operational budget savings in cybersecurity annually.
Overall, the implementation of this latest firewall system is not solely focused on financial savings; it also delivers four strategic benefits to UIII’s IT operations:
Stronger Security: Advanced Next-Generation protection features provide maximum defense against continuously evolving cyber threats.
Optimal Performance: Delivers high and stable device performance to reliably support university-scale digital service traffic.
Easier Management: Offers a centralized administration system and enhanced network visibility, significantly improving the efficiency of the IT team’s operations.
Budget Efficiency: Substantial operational savings can now be reallocated to support other priority IT development programs.
This implementation reflects our strong commitment to delivering secure, reliable, and efficient digital infrastructure as a solid foundation in supporting UIII’s digital transformation journey toward a world class smart university.
